Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and how you can ask us to delete it

Home / Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters

OCD Anchor is an education and peer-support project in India, built from lived OCD experience. It is not a clinic and not a medical record system.

What this policy covers

This page describes the live website: accounts, a non-diagnostic self-check, a private journal, a peer-circle waitlist, and contact messages. We do not take payments, we do not run a therapist booking service, and we do not sell your data.

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Indian data protection law (including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) applies to personal data we process. This page is written in plain language for users. It is not a substitute for legal advice, and a lawyer should review it before you rely on it as a company policy.

1. Who we are

OCD Anchor (“we”, “us”) is operated by Somnath Jana from Kolkata, West Bengal, India. The public contact address is Gitanjali Park, Sonamukhi Bagpota Link Road, near Chowmatha Bazar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

We are not a hospital, clinic, or licensed mental-health provider. Using the site does not create a doctor–patient relationship.

2. What we collect

When you create an account we ask for:

  • Name, email, password (stored hashed), and optional phone number
  • Age and gender
  • Optional OCD-related details you choose to add (for example subtypes or whether you are in treatment)
  • Whether you agreed to this policy and optional cookies

When you use the site we may also store:

  • Self-check answers and results, tied to your account if you are logged in
  • Contact-form messages (name, email, phone, message)
  • Basic technical logs such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, used to keep the site running and investigate abuse

Education and the self-check are free. A peer-circle seat or a one-to-one sit is paid through Razorpay. Card and UPI details are entered in Razorpay. We store the payment id, amount, and status, not your card number.

3. How we use it

We use this information to:

  • Create and secure your account, and let you sign in
  • Show your self-check history and educational next steps
  • Reply to contact messages
  • Fix bugs, prevent spam, and meet legal requests we cannot refuse

We do not use your information to diagnose you, to train a public AI chatbot on your journal, or to sell advertising profiles.

4. Self-check, journal, and waitlist

Self-check. Answers and scores are educational, not a diagnosis. If you take the self-check while logged in, they are stored on our database so you can see results later. Treat them as sensitive. Do not take the self-check on a shared computer unless you trust that device.

Private journal. A note stays in this browser until you choose “Save to my account” and confirm. Confirmed notes are stored in our database, linked to your login, and shown only to you in your journal report. Device-only notes disappear if you clear site data, switch browsers, or use another phone. Anyone with access to that device may be able to read the notes that were not saved to your account.

Peer-circle waitlist. The waitlist form currently saves your name, email, language, and note in this browser only. It is not a live group and not therapy. If we later collect waitlist sign-ups on our server, we will update this policy first.

5. Cookies

We use cookies (and similar storage) that are needed to keep you logged in and to remember basic preferences. Signup also asks if you accept optional cookies for a smoother experience.

We do not currently run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or session-replay tools. If we add an analytics service later, we will name it here.

You can block cookies in your browser. Login may stop working if essential cookies are blocked.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We may share data only with:

  • Hosting and database providers that run the website for us, under a duty to keep it confidential
  • Email delivery, if we use a provider to send account or support mail
  • Authorities, if Indian law requires us to disclose it

Links to outside help (for example hospital sites or crisis lines) are not our services. Their privacy rules apply when you leave OCD Anchor.

7. Storage and security

Account and self-check data sit on our application database. We hash passwords and use encrypted connections (HTTPS) in production. No website is perfectly secure. Do not put crisis plans or other people’s private details in forms or in the journal.

We keep account data while your account exists. Self-check records stay until you ask us to delete the account or those records. Account journal notes stay until you delete them or ask us to delete the account. Browser-only journal and waitlist data last until you clear them. Contact messages are kept long enough to reply and then as needed for legitimate records.

Account deletion from Settings is not fully automated yet. Email ocdanchor@gmail.com and we will delete or anonymise account, journal, and self-check data we hold, unless the law requires us to keep a copy.

8. Your rights

Subject to Indian law, you can ask us to:

  • Confirm what personal data we hold and receive a copy
  • Correct inaccurate account details
  • Delete your account and self-check history we store
  • Withdraw consent for optional cookies (browser settings also work)

Email ocdanchor@gmail.com with the subject “Privacy request”. We will need enough information to verify it is you. Aim to reply within a few working days.

9. Children

Accounts are intended for people 18 or older. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should supervise use and must agree to this policy. We do not knowingly market to young children. If a child created an account, email us and we will delete it.
